GREETINGS FROM HAITI !!

SPECIAL UPDATE

Late May 2009

Dear Friends,

Grandson William – thank you so much for your prayers for our 4 ½ year old grandson. It’s been a month since the accident happened, and he is healing very well. We are so thankful for your prayer support and the Lord’s healing touch. Obviously we are anxious to see him again, as well as all of our family.

Rainy Season – has given almost 35” of rain so far; we received 1 ¾” yesterday. This of course is not good for the existing roads!!

Quisqueya Chapel’s Youth - the youth really outdid themselves on Youth Sunday recently. It was very meaningful and given with a heart’s belief in the Truth they presented in various ways - a skit, video, music, prayer, and the message. We are so proud of our young people, all 60 of them!

Sunday May 31 – is an important day in the life of the Chapel as Pastor Bobby Boyer is commissioned as the next senior pastor, and will begin in August. This process has gone smoothly which is such a blessing! Pastor Bobby will begin spending more time with Karl next week before he leaves for the States; Luke and Becca Perkins arrive June 15 to oversee the Chapel during the summer, and Pastor Bobby begins in August.

QC’s Wall – Karl met with the mayor of our area of Port au Prince, a talented young man who is a Christian and lives just up the street from us. The meeting went well, and he was fair in the things he said. Apparently there has been a government plan for streets and roads for 20 years but never been enforced, until now with this present government. Many homes and businesses are required to move their walls back in several areas of PAP, to open roads for repair, giving better access to different parts of the city. Both the wall at QC and the wall at our house has to show some type of work being done by July. This is very daunting for the Chapel, and the committee is meeting to share ideas and formulate a plan. We have met with the owners of our house who will begin work soon, either at our house or the property right next door, which will satisfy the mayor.

Furlough – June 23-August 26. If you would like to have us come to your church to speak (Sunday August 2 is free) or meet with your pastor and/or missions committee about our ministry here, please let us know. We’ll also have a PowerPoint to show.

We are sending you our June letter soon to let you know our future plans, and appreciate your prayers for us as we begin a new walk of faith. We pray for you also, to be encouraged and strengthened during these challenging times. Our Lord is faithful and He walks each step with us – as we focus on Him and not our circumstances, we can know His presence with us.

Blessings,

Karl and Ann
