HAPPENINGS IN HAITI

We have 'hit the road running' since our return to Haiti 6 weeks ago
and want to share some of what of the things we've been doing...

Two groups of young people went with us to distribute water filters to the women of 2 different churches in the countryside. You should have seen their local water! But now they can have safe and clean water for cooking and drinking. All the filters we received after the earthquake have been given away, so now the emphasis is to distribute them to the 300 schools and 135 orphanages.

A work team came to build much needed latrines in two schools COH services. They worked hard and accomplished their goal in 4 days. Good work team!

The new COH warehouse is 3x the size of the one COH currently has. At the time of the earthquake, 12,000 children received food every school day and today 56,000 children in the program. The next goal is 100,000 - and this new warehouse will make that goal possible.

Franceli & Julie Joseph are directors of an orphanage COH services. These pastors, below, came to 'look and see' what COH is doing, and they learned alot. The story of God's faithfulness to the Joseph's and the children during and after the earthquake is amazing. After the earthquake the Joseph's were able to purchase land and the first building is near completion, giving these children and staff will move there before the end of this year.

THANK YOU again for your faithful prayers and support,
for being partners with us in the work here.

Would you please pray with us for the following:

Haiti - now has a Prime Minister after President Martelly recommended a 3rd man for the position. Pray that the government will begin to govern for the good of the people and the country. Two former presidents, Aristide and 'Baby Doc' Duvalier are still living here and this could cause some concern for the government functioning well.   Cholera - with the rains this time of year, more people are vulnerable. So far 6200 people have died and 440,000 people treated. Also the rains continue to make life miserable to the some 500,000 still living in tents since the earthquake over 1 1/2 year ago.
next week we have a group of people coming, who work with COH in Europe. Pray that their time here will be profitable and encouraging as they see the work here. We are excited to have them come -

pray for us as we go to Springfield, MO and the COH headquarters for a week of meetings and planning, along with other Field Associates serving around the world. We'll be there the week after Thanksgiving.

the manager of the COH guesthouse has indicated he plans to leave at the end of this year. He is invaluable to us as he oversees the staff, day to day needs, paying the bills, taking care of repairs and maintenance, etc. His presence helps us do what we do each day, and we clearly can't do both. Our prayer is that he will stay with us; to find another person of such integrity and responsibility will be very difficult.
May the Lord bless and encourage you,

Karl and Ann
