As we reflect back on the events of the past 6 months, it is hard to put it all into focus. We are still adjusting mentally to that January 12th afternoon when at 4:53pm we saw our home twist, turn, and shake, and yet it stood and we are OK by God's grace . We have had over 130 aftershocks since then and we are still having them, so we continue to deal with anxiety. 2 Timothy 1:7 says that God did not give us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and self discipline, and His Word brings comfort to our hearts. Please continue to pray for us.

After the earthquake, we wondered what we could do to help as the devastation and trauma was so overwhelming. A few days later Convoy of Hope Disaster Response Team asked if we would supervise giving food and other supplies to the Haitian people. Quisqueya Chapel became the location and we agreed to organize and facilitate this huge project. More than 4000 people received food and also water, milk, tarps, tents, blankets, and hygiene kits several times a week for 2 ˝ months. COH then asked us to distribute Sawyer water filters, and this we continue to do. Distributed through the churches and schools, people can have a simple but very effective way to provide safe and clean water for their children and families - they are very grateful!

Since the earthquake, many people have come to solid faith in Jesus Christ, and 3 baptisms have taken place at Quisqueya Chapel. One church has had with more than 200 people coming to faith in Christ, and in another, 4 voodoo priests (and others) have come to faith as well. Also, 16 children from Christian Light orphanage and school were baptized and Karl participated in this exciting event. God's Holy Spirit is convicting hearts.

Little did we know that God would use the earthquake and this very traumatic time to enlarge our territory even more (see 1Chron 4:9-10). As a result, we were asked to join Convoy of Hope as Field Associates-Haiti, with new opportunities that we could not anticipate, and we're looking to sharing more with you in the future.

Our furlough is June 23 - August 31 and we are looking forward to seeing many of you then. We are also really looking forward to seeing our family and our 6 wonderful, growing-up-too-fast grandchildren!

Donations for humanitarian projects have been very generous - our gratitude goes out to you who have helped us 'stand in the gap' for others in the following ways:

5 families re-built their homes

1 family re-built the perimeter
   wall around their house

A pastor has new eye glasses

2 men re-built their businesses

There is much more we can do and hen we return in August we will continue with other projects as God leads -

Gratefully His,

Karl and Ann
