Hello from Port au Prince
04/23/2010 Update:

       Our vehicle is packed full!

       Our vehicle is packed with Pastor Neil and
       Rosemary being squeezed by buckets

VT Team –We’ve been blessed so much to have a small team from VT come down, people we know so well,
such good friends. Pastor Neil is our pastor and his church is a strong praying, giving, helping church that comes
along side us in many different ways. They worked hard and we had a lot of fun helping and working with them
to complete the projects they planned to do. We are so grateful to the Lord for these wonderful people.
Aftershocks – we’ve had some 130+ earthquakes since Jan. 12, some we’ve know about and others we don’t. In the last few weeks we’ve had a few, and though minor, are enough to get the heart beating again!

The Container Saga – a couple of weeks ago a friend from the States asked Karl to help him with a new 40’ container he was sending from the States to Haiti through the Dominican Republic. Nothing is ever easy here and this was no exception. It was delayed at the border for 4 days before being delivered to the Chapel grounds. Then a new series of frustration began by trying to find someone to unload the container from the truck and then getting the contents unloaded and distributed to the people designated to receive them. But the ‘silver lining’ for us was that we can have the container free of charge, keep it on the Chapel grounds, and and use it for Convoy of Hope distributions...what a ‘God’ thing!

Karl explaining how to use the water filter

Water filters: we are continuing the distribution of water filters, giving people the opportunity to hear about the Living Water before receiving a water filter as the way to have good water. These times with the Haitian people have been precious, and we’ve included a few photos to show you.

Their church has rejoiced with over 200
people converted to faith in Christ

Harvest Time - we believe people are more eager to acknowledge their faith in Christ since the earthquake because they know their lives were spared by the grace of God. We also believe more people are willing to acknowledge God and be converted to faith in Jesus Christ because they know their lives were spared by the grace of God. The people tell us that everyone was calling on Jesus in those beginning moments of the quake – not the ‘other gods’. A different church from the one mentioned last month, has had over 200 converts and recently had a baptism of 25 who were ready for that important step....please continue to pray for the Living Water to speak to needy hearts. Please pray for those who are in Christ to be encouraged and strengthened during these very difficult times. Nothing is easy and strong faith is needed to persevere from day to day.

Family – we also had our daughter Kim and her 15 year old son Joshua come down to see us for 5 days – what a blessing that was!! They brought some things to share with an orphanage, orphanage & school ministry and individuals. We showed them some of what we’ve been doing, introduced them to some friends here, and enjoyed times of relaxing, wonderful times of conversations, and encouragement. It sure was hard to let them go, but all of us have great memories!

Neighborhood medical clinic: is still open two afternoons a week (or more as needed) and Ann has been asked to help with the pharmacy, which she hopes to do soon.

Food Distributions: big organizations such as the UN and USAID began to have large food distribution sites, and we could hear people going up our street at 4:00am to stand in line. At the same time the food items we had been receiving changed to more items in bulk which are better suited for orphanages, schools, and near-by refugee camps, so the food we were giving to families has stopped on it’s own. A few people have stopped by the Chapel to ask if there was food available, but no one caused a problem because this distribution had stopped, thank you Lord.

Another vehicle – we are highlighting our need for another vehicle, as seen in the photos we’ve included. We went to the Ft. Jacques church we’ve mentioned in the past, to distribute water filters, food, and duffle bags to 55 families. Luckily we could take another vehicle, and you can see how packed they were – ours is the blue Montero. We are limited in what we can do. So far we have $2700.00 available to use, yet still not nearly enough to buy another one. We checked out new ones similar to what we believe we need, for -/+ $50,000.USD.

This vehicle is packed!
Praises:

*  visits from friends and family!

*  provision of a container for our ministry –
    we needed more space for storage
    but this is over the top!

Prayer Request:

*  provision of another vehicle
*  the Haitian people who persevere
    under unimaginable hardships
*  the Haitian government and
    non-profit organizations to keep
    the people’s needs as the priority
*  for us as we continue to serve as a conduit
    of help and encouragement to the Haitian people

Gratefully His,

Karl and Ann
