April 2011

Dear Family and Friends,

As most of you are anticipating and enjoying the spring weather, we are anticipating the rainy season. We had 4" the last two nights which is good for cisterns, gardens, and clearing the air from a dusty fog, but not good for the million plus people still living in tents badly tattered at this point, nor the roads already is dismal condition.

Tent City
Convoy House -

We have had a few COH groups come which is good.

Children like to have their pictures taken!

We also were able to host a group adoptive parents who came to spend several days with their children still in the adoption process. They all had a wonderful time together and we were glad to have the house filled with laughter of children and happy parents! Next week we have a COH group coming and are looking forward to seeing them.

Safe water for families   Water Filter Distributions:

We've have had more time to distribute water filters, and since January we've distributed to about 4000 families - people now having a good way to turn the unclean/dirty water into safe and clean water for their families to drink, cook with, brush their teeth with, etc.

Tasting the clean water ~ yes, it's good!

Last Saturday -
We went to a tent city near-by and gave the leaders a 50 gallon bucket with 5 filters attached to it so more families could have safe and clean water. We were so grateful to share not only a way for them to have clean water, but to share the truth of the Living Water we can all have through Jesus Christ.

Karl teaching about the Living Water.
At every distribution Karl shares this life-saving truth with the people, encouraging them in the Lord.

We continue to see more spiritual hunger now than before the earthquake.

COH Schools -

We visit schools who receive food to feed students and staff, and also visit schools who are approved to receive food but funds aren't available yet.

Starting to build COH's new warehouse
What a difference in the students who eat and those who don't. Right now COH is feeding 51,000 children in schools and orphanages across Haiti (one meal / school day), but COH wants to do more. A new, very large warehouse is now under construction and this will enable COH to accomplish their goal of feeding 100,000 children.

Going home from school
Election -

the preliminary results of the winner is Michel Martelly who has almost 68% of the votes cast.

Though the opposing candidate Mme Manigat is not contesting the results, the final announcement that should have been made Saturday the 16th is now postpone until today the 20th. The inauguration is scheduled for May 14. the political 'temperature' has been very quiet and we are so grateful for this - work teams and medical teams
