02/16/2010 Update:
Community Meetings – since the earthquake January 12, we’ve been meeting on Saturday mornings at the Chapel with others who live in our neighborhood to talk about the tremendous needs and how we can help in a better way. Discussions center around food distributions, providing good drinking water, medical care, and security needs. The situation of food distributions being difficult because of rowdy crowds wanting food, and another situation with one of our neighbors having had armed men come several times at night to break in were concerns. Last Saturday we invited some policemen to come to the meeting so we could talk about what they could do to help address these situations, how we could work together for the good of our community, and they were very helpful. At the end of our discussions, we then asked if we could pray over them, a special time for everyone. The following Monday – yesterday, they came and the crowd was orderly and the distribution went well. Revivals: are happening in many churches. For example one church we know of has had 165 commitments to Christ since last Friday and another church we know of has had over 100 since January 12, the day of the quake.
PLEASE KEEP PRAYING ! |
Another vehicle – We realize more and more that our current vehicle, a 1995 Montero which we bought used about 9 years ago, is getting very tired, and isn’t capable to handle the rough roads and heavy cargo anymore. We would like to buy either a new or a good/used vehicle to meet our needs for ministry. We have saved $1000. but realize we need your help in purchasing another vehicle. Please pray and consider what you could do to help. |

We have realized that we need to take a break from the situation here. We met with two stress counselors and our time with them was very insightful and helpful. They encouraged us to take a break from here, and in talking with a seasoned missionary couple, they also encouraged us to take some time away. So we flew out last Friday for a some R&R in Florida, and will leave next Tuesday for the Dominican Republic to help drive some vehicles across the border into Haiti. It is a short stay but it’s been good to get away. Please pray for us that our time to continue be restful so we can go back refreshed to continue His work here in Haiti.
